English Live Stream Technical Difficulties

Learn English Live is not easy

Another day, another live stream. I teach live English classes on my channel every night. It is quite the challenge to prepare a live stream. I need to spend a few hours making a script and images for every live stream. I am not sure why I am making live streams these days, but hopefully someday I will benefit from my effort.

Tonight’s live stream was a game. In an attempt to engage my viewers, I think a game format is fun and entertaining. I had prepared the game in the afternoon, so I had everything ready by 6 p.m. At around 10:15 p.m., I start to advertise the live stream on various social media sites until 10:27 p.m. This is the usual live stream preparation schedule.

Well, today at 10:27 p.m., I noticed that my microphone wasn’t working. I started to panic! I had to go live at 10:30 p.pm, and I could already see people waiting in the chat room for the live stream. I had to hurry to find out what the problem was for the live stream settings. I noticed that there were two problems. First, the microphone wasn’t set up properly. I fixed it quickly. Second, the video setting was wrong. It was already 10:33 p.m.! My live stream was late. I had to start with the wrong video setting. I didn’t think the video setting mattered much, but during the live stream many people complained about a delay. I felt terrible that I could not fix it for them. Nothing can be fixed once I go live.

We played the game. I had 10 words and my students had to guess the words through the clues I gave them. I thought the game would be a little harder, but my students were clever. Carrie Page got 2 of the words. I was impressed.

Please check out the live stream here: https://youtu.be/YeQV9vAPU3A

I am always amazed that students come out to watch my live streams. The people give their precious time to listen to me. I do hope I make a difference with my free English classes and help people truly improve their English.

  1. I can’t imagine how difficult it must’ve been for you. I am so sorry, Robin. There was a technical difficulty and a delay (I complained too! Sorry!) but you handled it very well. The game was very fun but also useful for English beginners like me. I didn’t know that word “eyelashes’ and spelling of ‘harass’, but now I memorize those words clearly! And Thanks for your praise. just in case other people is wondering, I didn’t cheat! I knew the word ‘rural’ becuase I have a fantasy of living in rural, quite town like in western countries….Anyway, Robin. You’re a great English teacher! Thanks for your effort!

    1. Thank you, Carrie. It is always my pleasure to do these Live Streams even though there is a lot of frustration and stress the days I do them. I was happy you won two games! You are very clever…and a fast typer.

  2. My words paralyze about express.
But..you are really a resistant person and offer a lot to help others.. You spend al lot of your time and health about it. I have not found a teacher like you.
For that reason I suggest that live streams to be five times in the week so you take some rest.

    1. Hello Layla, thank you for your kind words. I will not teach 7 days a week. I will teach less when new teachers start teaching.
